HRD stands for human remains detection. Dogs trained in HRD are used to find deceased individuals as well as assist with crime scene work. A trained dog will give an indication to the handler that there is HRD odor. The indication may be a sit, down, or other special behavior that is specific to an HRD find. There are many subcertifications in HRD such as land, under water and working off boats, and shoreline/moving water.
